Snapshot: Its brilliant blue face, set against its vibrant yellow fins and tail, commands attention in any tank. Juveniles start their journey adorned in blue, black, and white stripes, evolving into a unique checked pattern as they mature.

 

Other tidbits: Can grow up to a whopping 38cm or so! Native to the waters of the Indian Ocean including around the Maldives and the tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean.

 

Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or fish-only system. Larger size aquarium needed.

  • Aquarium set-up: Given their size and territorial tendencies, a substantial tank is essential for their well-being. Ensure ample swimming space and craft intricate caves, overhangs, and hideaways using live rock. Angelfish crave cozy hideouts for safety and snoozing.     Feeding: Angelfish are omnivorous champs. Keep 'em happy with a smorgasbord of high-quality marine flakes, nutrient-rich algae like nori, live treats, and frozen crustaceans like brine or mysis shrimp, and top-notch frozen blends.
