Blunthead Wrasse
Snapshot: Also known as the Blue-headed Wrasse, it stands out with its unique head shape — a rounded or blunted head. Its blunt head pairs strikingly with its sleek, rod-like body. This fish also boasts vibrant color shifts across gender and age.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 15cm or so. Native to the waters of the Indian Ocean and the tropical waters of the Western Pacific Ocean.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish only system or reef aquarium with care. Sandy substrate for burrowing.
Aquarium set-up: Load your tank with live rock for hiding and a sandy substrate for nighttime burrowing. This active swimmer needs both hiding spots and open space to thrive. Wrasses love their comfort — give them a cozy fine sandbed to burrow into when they need a snooze or sense trouble. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Keep your Wrasse in top form with a gourmet diet of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, alongside high-quality marine flakes and pellets.
AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
