Choat's Red Leopard Wrasse
Snapshot: Also known as the Choati Wrasse. Juveniles sport a semi-transparent white body accented with vibrant orange patches. Adults flaunt a white body adorned with red-orange spots and bold red facial stripes.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 11cm or so. Endemic to the Australia coast, found in the southern parts of the Great Barrier Reef and northern New South Wales.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system or reef aquarium with care. Mature and well established aquarium. Thick, sandy substrate. Expert aquarists only.
Aquarium set-up: This beauty demands a well established tank that is spacious and decked out with ample live rock for hideouts and hunting. Wrasses love their comfort — give them a cozy fine and deep sandbed to burrow into when they need a snooze or sense trouble. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Keep your Wrasse in top form with a gourmet diet of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, alongside high-quality marine flakes and pellets.
AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
