Black Leopard Wrasse
Snapshot: Sporting a sleek dark body peppered with light blue to yellowish spots, this fish means business. Its dorsal fin has bold black and white diagonal stripes, while hints of fiery red might grace its head and tail for added flair.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 10cm or so. Endemic to Australia, it is found in the northern coast from Western Australia to Queensland.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or reef aquarium. Mature and well-established aquarium with plenty of live rock. Thick, sandy substrate. Expert aquarists only.
Aquarium set-up: This beauty demands a well established tank that is spacious and decked out with ample live rock for hideouts and hunting. Wrasses love their comfort — give them a cozy fine sandbed to burrow into when they need a snooze or sense trouble. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Keep your Wrasse in top form with a gourmet diet of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, alongside high-quality marine flakes and pellets.
AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
