Snapshot: Also known as the Mimic Lemon Peel Tang, or the Mimic Surgeon. As a juvenile, its oval body is predominantly yellow, with blue accents around the eyes, resembling the Lemonpeel Angelfish. When mature, its body darkens to tan with vibrant red highlights around the eyes and pectoral fins.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to 20cm or so. Found in the regions from tropical waters of Northern Australia, to the southern and eastern Asiatic coasts and the Pacific.

Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, fish-only system, or reef aquarium.

  • Aquarium set-up: Provide hiding spots like caves and crevices to minimize stress and offer retreat options when necessary. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine water changes.

Feeding: For tangs, algae is king! Load up on algae-based essentials like toasted nori sheets, algae flakes, and pellets. And for a gourmet twist, treat them to frozen brine shrimp enriched with spirulina. It's an algae feast fit for royalty!

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
