Clown Triggerfish
Snapshot: The Clown Triggerfish has a stocky, oval-shaped body that is clad in tough, plate-like scales. Its striking black body is adorned with large white spots, a vivid yellow net-like pattern on its back, and a broad white stripe between the nose and eyes.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to a whopping 50cm or so! Range extends from East Africa through the Pacific to Japan, Samoa and the eastern side of Australia. A vibrant, entertaining but fiercely territorial aquarium resident.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish only system with caution (may gnaw live-rock), or fish only system. Colossal size aqaurium needed to cater for its growth.
Aquarium set-up: Secure hiding places are paramount, offering them a sense of ownership and security in their environment. Anchor tank decorations firmly, as these dynamic fish are known for their propensity to rearrange their surroundings to their liking. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: To keep their ever-growing teeth in check, the Clown Triggerfish thrives on a diverse menu of meaty delights, such as squid, krill, clams, small fish, and hard-shelled shrimp.
AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
