Dussumieri Tang
Snapshot: Also known as the Eyestriped Surgeonfish, it has bold orange stripes framing its eyes, a radiant orange-tan body, and mesmerizing wavy blue lines from head to tail.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 18cm or so. Native to the tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean, the Eastern Indian Ocean and the Tasman Sea. Watch as its hues flare in reaction to threats or to express its ever-changing moods.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or reef aquarium with plenty of swimming space. Mature and well established aquarium with strong water movement.
Aquarium conditions: It will need ample space for free-spirited swimming and grazing delights. Complete your aquarium with vigorous water flow and ample live rock. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: For tangs, algae is king! Load up on algae-based essentials like toasted nori sheets, algae flakes, and pellets. And for a gourmet twist, treat them to frozen brine shrimp enriched with spirulina. It's an algae feast fit for royalty!
