Goldtail Angelfish
Snapshot: This fish rocks a mottled-brown body with bold white vertical stripes, while its head pops with vivid sapphire-blue lines. The tail starts off clear as a juvenile but transforms into a mellow yellow edged in sapphire-blue.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 33cm or so! Distributed throughout the East Indian Ocean, West Indian Ocean, Australia, and Indonesia. When this Goldtail is stressed, it makes a weird, grunting sound, like it’s got something to say!
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, fish-only system, or reef aquarium with care. Mature and well established aquarium. Top-notch water quality.
Aquarium set-up: This fish is all about that top-tier water quality! Oxygen-rich water is a must, and they thrive in an aquarium where they can munch on algae from rocks and stones. They love a good hideout between live rocks, and with their need for space to swim, you’ll want to give them a tank that lets them move and groove. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Angelfish are omnivorous champs. Keep 'em happy with a smorgasbord of high-quality marine flakes, nutrient-rich algae like nori, live treats, and frozen crustaceans like brine or mysis shrimp, and top-notch frozen blends.
AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
