Lawnmower Blenny
Snapshot: Also known as the Algae Blenny. It has subdued shades of tan, green, or gray, with bold dark stripes crisscrossing its body. These fish are the masters of camouflage. They have an oversized head, complete with (what looks like) a prominent brow.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 14cm or so. Found in coral-rich areas of the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region and the Red Sea.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or reef aquarium with care. Mature or well established aquarium only.
Aquarium set-up: Give them their own underwater playground —a mature tank with plenty of live rock and rockwork to keep their adventurous spirit satisfied. These agile explorers will perch on live rock, dart into caves, and hop across the substrate, all while indulging in a delicious buffet of microalgae. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: For these natural-born cleaners to thrive, they need a well-established aquarium bursting with natural algae to munch on. You can always supplement their diet with mysis and brine shrimp to keep them happy and healthy.
AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
