Snapshot: With a long snout, this butterflyfish is a master at snagging snacks from crevices and coral heads. Its yellow body sports a head divided horizontally — black on top, white below. Watch out for those long, jagged dorsal spines!
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 22cm or so. Native to the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region and the Red Sea.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, fish-only system, or reef aquarium with care. Top-notch water quality.
Aquarium set-up: Generously adorn your set up with live rock to offer both shelter and a natural food source for this beauty. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Keep the butterflyfish menu diverse by serving up frozen or live treats like brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and chopped seafood. Don't forget top-notch marine flakes or pellets for balanced nutrition.
AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
