Marine Betta

Marine Betta

Snapshot: Also referred to as the Comet. These eel-like beauties sport a dark black body, adorned with white spots. Their tail fin features a striking blue and orange spot.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to 20cm or so. Native to the Indian and Pacific Oceans, they can be found from East Africa to the central-Pacific, south of Hawaii.

Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish only system, or reef aquarium with plenty of live rock. A nocturnal creature that's more active at night.

  • Aquarium set-up:  The Marine Betta is nocturnal by nature and prefers lots of shelter and hiding spots. Create caves and crevices in your aquarium for your Marine Betta to feel comfortable in. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.

Feeding: Introduce live saltwater feeder shrimp initially to entice feeding. Transition to meaty foods and frozen preparations once its settled into your aquarium.

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
