Mata Surgeonfish

Mata Surgeonfish

Snapshot: Also known as the Pale Surgeonfish or Blue-lined Surgeonfish. Its body flaunts horizontal bluish streaks on a brown backdrop, but it can shift to a striking grey-blue hue over time.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to a whopping 50cm! Widely distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system or reef aquarium. Spacious size aquarium needed.

  • Aquarium conditions: Opt for a spacious tank, prioritizing length over height, to give your Mata Tang ample swimming space. Incorporate live rock structures for hiding and algae growth. Reduce stress by providing hiding spots and avoiding sudden changes in lighting or water conditions. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.

Feeding: For tangs, algae is king! Load up on algae-based essentials like toasted nori sheets, algae flakes, and pellets. And for a gourmet twist, treat them to frozen brine shrimp enriched with spirulina. It's an algae feast fit for royalty!

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
