Niger Triggerfish
Snapshot: Also known as the Red-Toother Triggerfish. The Niger Triggerfish flaunts a dazzling color palette that seems to shifts daily — think vibrant purples, deep blues, and shimmering blue-greens.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 30.4cm or so. Distributed throughout the East and West Indian Ocean, Australia, Japan, The Red Sea, Indonesia, East Pacific, Central/West Pacific. This curious species has a knack for nibbling on rubber and plastic bits it finds around the tank. Keep it entertained, and your setup stays bite-free!
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system or fish-only system. Larger sized aquarium needed.
Aquarium set-up: This species craves cozy hideouts, like snug spots between live rocks! It also loves to shake things up by rearranging rocks and sand like it’s on a mission to create a whole new landscape! To avoid an underwater avalanche, make sure those rocks are locked down tight on the substrate. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Triggerfish are foodies with a taste for variety! Feed it a mix of meaty delights —squid, krill, clams, small fish, and crunchy shrimp — to keep those ever-growing teeth in check. It’s a dining experience as wild as its personality!
AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
