Ocellate Butterflyfish
Snapshot: This fish rocks a white base with five fierce brown to orange bands. The eye-catching first band flaunts vibrant orange hues rimmed with black.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 18cm. Range extends from the tropical Indian Eastern Ocean to the Western Pacific Ocean, including around parts of Australia.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system or fish-only system.
Aquarium conditions: Set up killer hideouts like nestled spots amidst live rocks. Ocellated butterflyfish thrive on swimming, so make sure your tank gives them plenty of room to strut their stuff. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Keep the butterflyfish menu diverse by serving up frozen or live treats like brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and chopped seafood. Don't forget top-notch marine flakes or pellets for balanced nutrition.
