Diamond Watchman Goby
Snapshot: Also known as the Orange-dashed Goby, Diamond Watchman Goby or the Orange Spotted Diamond (amongst other names). Its elongated body is citrine yellow with fiery orange accents. It blends effortlessly into sandy surroundings, thanks to its semi-translucent body.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 15cm or so. Range extends around the Indo-Pacific region, from the Red Sea to the Maldives, the Philippines, and slices of Australia.
The Diamond Watchman Goby scavenges the sandy depths, sifting through for its next meal.
Bare bones must know: Fish-only system or reef aquarium. Sandy substrate for burrowing.
Aquarium set-up: Equip your aquarium with a sandy substrate to suit the Diamond Goby's burrowing instincts. Provide ample hiding spots like rocks. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Keep your royal goby highness happy with a diverse diet of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, flake food, marine-based algae and shrimp pellets.
