Pixy Hawkfish
Snapshot: Also known as the Coral Hawkfish. It sports a whitish-blue body adorned with bold red spots.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 10cm or so. Range extends from the Red Sea to the Gulf of California and Central America.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or fish-only system. It is a voracious carnivore!
Aquarium set-up: Have an abundance of live rock for structure and concealment, and corals to allow them to thrive in their underwater domain. And don't forget the lid — these acrobats are known to make daring leaps from open aquariums!Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Hawkfish are chow hounds, readily devouring dried or frozen fare. Think frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and hearty crustacean chunks (like live feeder shrimp) to keep these carnivores satisfied.
