Purple Tang

Purple Tang

Snapshot: Also known as the Yellowtail Sailfin Tang. Prized for its stunning coloration, its body is drenched in vibrant purple. Its yellow tailfin and occasionally yellow-tipped pectoral fins, amp up its allure.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to 25cm or so. Once exclusive to the Red Sea, it now graces the Arabian Sea to the Western Indian Ocean, and the Persian Gulf. A top-tier gem among aquarists, coveted for their stunning colouration!

Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or reef aquarium with care. Mature and well established aquarium.

  • Aquarium set-up: Keep it happy with good lighting, ample space, and plenty of hiding spots for shelter during the night. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.

Feeding: For tangs, algae is king! Load up on algae-based essentials like toasted nori sheets, algae flakes, and pellets. And for a gourmet twist, treat them to frozen brine shrimp enriched with spirulina. It's an algae feast fit for royalty!

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
