Regal / Pacific Blue Tang

Snapshot: Commonly known as the Blue Tang, it dazzles with an electric blue body and a yellow tail. Its striking dark lines start from their eyes, trace down their dorsal line, and loop above their pectoral fin.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to 25cm or so. Range extends widely from East Africa through the Indian Ocean and across much of the Pacific. Famously portrayed in 'Finding Nemo', this fish is a moviestar!

Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or reef aquarium with plenty of swimming space. Mature and well-established aquariums. Well-lit aquarium.

  • Aquarium set-up: The Blue Tang craves hideouts in live rock but is also a fan of free swimming. To thrive, ensure your aquarium offers plenty of space for it to roam and explore. Ensure ample hiding spots and vast swimming space to keep them content and their territorial behaviour in check. Keep those tanks shining bright to fuel the algae growth on rocks. Your underwater garden craves the glow for your Blue Tang's algae feast. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.

Feeding: For tangs, algae is king! Load up on algae-based essentials like toasted nori sheets, algae flakes, and pellets. And for a gourmet twist, treat them to frozen brine shrimp enriched with spirulina. It's an algae feast fit for royalty!

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
