Richmond's Wrasse

Richmond's Wrasse

Snapshot: Male Richmond’s Wrasses dazzle in green, blue, and yellow, while females rock a subtle brown with chain-like patterns and hints of orange and yellow near the anal fin.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to 19cm or so. Distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific region, around the Indonesiam coast, the Philippines, and some parts of the Great Barrier Reef. It’s a natural pest-buster, munching on fireworms, pyramidellid snails, tubeworms and flatworms. Juvenile Richmond’s Wrasses can change color to blend in, a slick survival trick. It's also part of the cleaning crew, busy removing parasites from other fish!

Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or reef aquarium with care.

  • Aquarium set-up: Think loads of live rock for exploring and a deep sandy bed for it to dive into, whether it’s chilling, hiding, or grabbing a snack on the go! Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine water changes. And don't forget the lid — these acrobats are known to make daring leaps from open aquariums! Wrasses love their comfort — give them a cozy fine sandbed to burrow into when they need a snooze or sense trouble.

Feeding: Keep your Wrasse in top form with a gourmet diet of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, alongside high-quality marine flakes and pellets.

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
