Sunburst Anthias

Sunburst Anthias

Snapshot: One of our favourites, this beauty has vibrant splash of pink, with bold yellow-to-orange scale edges and striking facial markings. Its pectoral and anal fins are rimmed in electric blue, adding a pop of color to its already dazzling look.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to 13cm or so. Distributed throughout Australia, Japan, Indonesia, East Pacific, Central/West Pacific Oceans.

Bare bones must know: Fish-only system, or reef aquarium.

  • Aquarium set-up: This species loves low-key vibes, thriving best in dim lighting that sets the mood. They also crave secret hideouts —like between live rocks — where they can relax and stay out of the spotlight. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.

Feeding: Anthias thrive on variety, gobbling up frozen mysis shrimp and enriched brine shrimp. Over time, sprinkle in high-quality flake foods in small doses throughout the day. But for the pièce de résistance, set up a refugium packed with copepods and amphipods— an endless buffet of live treats for these lively planktivores.

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
