Two Barred Rabbitfish
Snapshot: Also known as the Double Barred Spinefoot. Its vibrant yellow and white stripes are offset by a bold black band spanning its face and body. Neon blue outlines add an electrifying touch.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 28cm or so. Range extends from Australia's Great Barrier Reef northwards to Indonesia and the Philippines. They can switch up their colors, blending in seamlessly with their surroundings. During the day, its hues are more vibrant, resembling the Foxface. When threatened, they pull a disappearing act by hiding next to rocks and switching up their colors and patterns — looking “ill” is just their slick camouflage in action!
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, fish-only system, or reef aquarium with care. Wear gloves when handling, their venomous spines can inflict painful injuries.
Aquarium set-up: This is a dynamic explorer, that never rests as it ventures through the tank. Provide live rock hideaways, so they find solace amidst their aquatic adventures. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Rabbitfish will devour algae strips with gusto, crunch on seaweed pellets for a taste of the sea, enjoy high-quality marine flakes and savour live foods like krill for a protein boost. It also indulges in fresh vegetables!
AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
